What I Wish I Wore...

My little sister Brooke just dyed her hair BLUE for the summer.
Just the tips, and just underneath.
I loved it.
I was kind of surprised that I loved it, but I did.
It was fun and summery, and young.
So cute!
She said that she just bought the hair dye at Walgreens and she offered to do mine for me too.
Hmm...I'm really tempted.
I loved it on Brooke.
But, I'm not sure I can pull it off.
I might be too old...or, not old, but not young enough for blue.
I have a few more weeks to decide.
Brooke will be here for a few days in August before she leaves for China.
What do you think?
Should I try out blue?
LOL

WIWW - Rodeo

Last Thursday we took the kids to the Strawberry Days Rodeo.
I've learned, after living in Utah for several years, that rodeos are an occasion to dress up for.  If you have anything country...you wear it.

Unfortunately, it was also 97 degrees out.
I just couldn't bring myself to put on cowboy boots.
I saw tons of girls in skirts and boots (which would have been cute) but I knew I would be getting up and down a lot with the kids and figured I better go for practical.

I ended up picking:
White shirt - Charlotte Russe
Skinny Jeans - Target
Coral Flats - Target
 My kids however...looked AWESOME!
They were fully decked out in their cowboy shirts, jeans, boots, hats, and even belt buckles!
Bridger succombed to the heat and chose a shirt and shorts.
Can't blame the boy either...it was HOT.
 Lovin' my cute baby!
 Saxon LOVED the rodeo!
Bridger thought I took too many pictures.
Dalton just wanted the famous strawberries and cream.
I love having a reason to dress up...don't you?

WIWW - Yellow Skinnies

Have I mentioned before that I have been dying for yellow pants?
I have wanted some all winter, all spring, and this summer, I finally got some!
I was so excited!

They are so bright and summery and fun!
I bought them a size too big because when I've noticed as I've tried on a million pairs of skinny jeans, that super tight ones can be kind of sheer.
They get a little baggy in the knees, but it's better than see-through :) LOL.
shirt - thrifted
pants - Head Over Heels
Shoes - Target
sunglasses - Nordstrom $10
Baby - all mine! :)

The only problem with light colored skinnies is that they get soooooo dirty by the end of the day!  Can you see the dirty foot prints going down the front of my pants?  I have solid dirty streak that is right at the level of where Dalton's feet hang down when I hold him.

Plus, we rode our bikes to the library today for summer reading and trying to maneuver all three bikes into the crowded bike rack didn't help either.
Oh well.  They're still my favorite pants :)

WIWW - unsure

I have this new outfit that I'm not 100% sure about.
Brittany and I were at Forever 21 and she held up this
tight, short, spandex, purple skirt and said
"You have to get this!  I have one in black and I love it!"
I wasn't so sure.
I tried to get away with "I can't afford it."
So Brittany picked up the tag and said "It's $5."
Oh.
Well, truth be told, I think it would make me look like a hooker.
Short.  Tight.  I was nervous just looking at it.
Brittany was of the opinion that for $5, you can't go wrong.
She assured me that if I paired it with a loose top, I wouldn't look like a hooker.

(Sorry to keep describing it that way...it became a joke because after I said it the first time, Brittany named it "the hooker skirt" and that has since been how we describe it.)

So, I bought it, a few months ago, and have procrastinated wearing it.
Brittany does look super-cute in hers, but every time I try it on, I take it off again.

So, here I am being brave and trying something that I would never have picked on my own:
I wore leggings with it and a flowy top and it kind of started to grow on me.
By the end of the day, I kind of liked it.
Then I had my husband snap a few pictures.
Umm...
Did I put the wrong top with it because this picture is not very flattering?

So I tried taking some of my own pictures in the mirror when I got home.
Not much better.
On the bright side, it makes me look like I have a nice round bum.
I haven't had much of a bum since I had babies but this skirt makes it look like I do :)

What do you think?

WIWW - pink capris

I tried to take my own picture this week.
Some people can do amazing self-photos.
Not me.
Blurry, off-center, and this was about the 10th try...
Is there a trick to this?
Since we were rushing out the door to T-ball, I had Nate snap one of me in front.
Not a whole lot better, but at least it's in focus :)
I spent all winter looking for colored skinnies.  All winter!  The problem is, that I didn't want to spend a lot.  When you are buying cheap pants, you can't expect a perfect fit...I guess.  By Spring, I wished that I had just bought a Nordstrom pair in the fall.  I would have gotten my moneys worth by wearing them all winter.

Now that it's summer, I finally broke down and bought a pair of colored capris.
They're not the perfect fit, but they were cheap :)
They were $12.99 at H&M.

My shirt doesn't match, but I think that's the way to go with colored pants.
If it did match, it would be way too much pink!
The shirt is blue and white and yellow.
On sale from Old Navy.

Shoes - Target Sale - $10.
I'd been wanting them since last year, so I was sooo excited to find them on sale.
I wear them everyday.
They are originally only $14 which isn't too bad, but $10 is awesome!

My new wardrobe wish:
A striped maxi skirt.
At first I couldn't find one in stock.
Everyone was selling out of them as fast as they could get them.
I finally found one at Down East but it was $35 and I couldn't bring myself to spend the money.  At the end of the season I'm probably going to be thinking the same thing I did with the colored skinnies "I should have done it."
But I just can't...maybe next year :)

Floating French Braid for WIWW

Happy Wednesday!
Last Wednesday was Saxon's preschool graduation and it was kind of chilly outside.
I had already planned to wear my blue dress, but ended up having to pair it with my striped yellow cardigan.
I was also really windy
Brittany and I tried to take some pictures outside but they looked like we were standing in  a tornado, so we ended up taking them in the preschool instead.
Preschool graduation was so cute!
Saxon sang the Star-Spangled-Banner as loud as he could and I was so proud of him.
But, I was a little sad because this means that he is going to kindergarten.
I don't know if I'm ready for real school.
From this fall and then for as long as he lives at home we have to have a "school schedule".
I have really loved the freedom of having all of my kids home with me.
Saxon's teacher cried saying goodbye to him because she has had him for 2 years and they were such a good fit.  She was the perfect teacher for him!
Bridger is looking forward to having her next year :)
One of Saxon's teachers sells paparazzi jewelry and I got this cute yellow necklace.
I decided to do a floating french braid too.
It's pretty easy and a fun way to dress your hair up.
My hair was a mess from all the wind, so this was a fun way to make it look cute again.
Have a great day!!!

WIWW - Brookie

This month so far has been crazy!
I feel like I have something going on every single day.
We are planning a trip for Memorial Day Weekend, and then the whole month of June is going to be crazy/busy with swimming, soccer, summer reading, BYU soccer camp, my dad is coming into town, etc.  So, I'm trying to get everything on my to-do list done before we leave for Memorial Weekend.

That seems to include a thousand doctors appointments.
We all went to the dentist.  Saxon had a couple of cavities so we had to go back twice.  Bridger has a wart so we went to the dermatologist, but we have to go back again.  I took Saxon to see my friends homeopathic doctor to check out his always-swollen lymph nodes (and in a few weeks we need to go back again), etc.
This week has been especially hectic.

I didn't have time to take any cute pictures and I was getting frustrated trying to come up with something at the last minute.
And it was getting dark.
And I was getting tired.

It frustrating trying to come up with something cute when you don't have extra money to just go buy the cute outfit you've had your eye on.
My sister Brooke is my fashion inspiration because she can pull off anything.  When she comes over, she mixes up the things that I already have in new ways so I feel like I have  a new outfit.  She is also great at finding things in thrift stores.

Since I was thinking of Brookie, I decided to check out her blog to see what she's been up to...

She's apparently been up to taking gorgeous pictures, in tropical locations and sipping fresh coconut juice.  The advantages of living in Hawaii I guess :)

I'm always inspired by Brooke and her unique style so I thought I'd post a few pictures of her for WIWW this week:
shirt: Forever 21
Shorts: thrifted
You can check out Brooke's blog at:

I love you Brookie!!!

What I Wore Wednesday

We have had a ton of wind here lately.  A ton!
The forecast for this whole week looks beautiful...except for the wind!
It's been doing all kinds of crazy things to my hair...
For example, my side bangs, have become real bangs when the wind picks up.
I snapped a picture when I was outside the other day to see what I looked like with bangs.  What do you think?  I toy with the idea of bangs every once in a while, but then I chicken out.  I'm afraid they would drive me crazy.  But my sister-in-law just cut some light bangs (the "Jennifer Lawrence" hairstyle) and she looks gorgeous.
It's making me consider it again...
A few weeks ago, Old Navy had their "stuff and save" sale.
As much as you could fit in the bag was 40% off.
I saw this shirt on the manikin and liked it, but they only had it left in an X-Large.
So I bought it anyway.
My little sister never looks at sizes...she says you can always make it work :)
I'm also wearing my favorite JOLT jeans from Nordstrom.
Love them!  So comfy!!!
They also have "butt lift" in them.
I guess they have a little tighter elastic in the bum to give it a little lift.
I was excited about it because I used to have a bum, but it went away after I had kids.
When I first saw this picture of myself, I thought:
"It worked!  It looks like I have a bum!"
...
Then I remembered that I had stuck my phone in my back pocket so I wasn't holding it in the picture...so I guess it didn't give me a bigger bum.
Oh well.
They're still my favorite jeans.
And, I'm standing in my soon-to-be-garden.  Soooo excited!!!

What I Wore - to the Queen Bee

I had such a hard time trying to decide what to wear to the Queen Bee.
On Friday, I had to wear something practical because I was going to be loading up furniture and setting it up.  But it was also the blogging conference dinner and I knew everyone would look really cute, so I didn't want to look like I had been lugging furniture around all day.  I wore skinny jeans and a really fun gray top that I got from Nordstrom with my coral flats (of course I didn't get a picture...)

On Saturday, I was going to be there all day so I wanted to look nice, but I was going to be on my feet all day so I definitely didn't want to wear heels.  Plus, I was going to have to take down my booth that afternoon.

This is what I decided on:
Dress - Downeast $30
(It's a little pioneer-looking, but I liked it because it has sleeves and is long enough so I don't have to layer it.  It works all by itself so I couldn't resist!)
White belt - vintage
Shoes - fake Toms $15 Tilly's
Flower Clip - Love Stitched

However, Brittany's cute striped skirt is on my wish-list.
I loved it!

What I Wore...trying something new

I went to forever 21 with Brittany last week (without kids).
I never go to the mall without my kids.
I pretty much never go anywhere without my kids.
It was so fun and relaxing and productive!
I was almost giddy about it.

While we were there, we found these cute dresses on sale.
They looked darling on the hanger...and I love dresses...so I went for it!
I went to the tulip gardens with my boys and Saxon was my photographer:
It sort of felt like a cape when it would catch in the wind...hmmm...
What do you think?
Was it worth the $10?

What I Wore...Easter

I bought my kids some really cute Easter outfits this year...but then I decided to get their pictures taken the day after Easter.  I was afraid that they would ruin their cute Easter clothes, so I didn't have them wear them on Easter LOL.  They looked really cute the day after Easter though :)

Instead, we decided to coordinate in orange.
My dress is a thrift-store re-do that my sister Brooke helped me with.
You can read the tutorial HERE.
Me:
Dress - thrifted
Cardigan - thrifted
Belt - thrifted
Shoes - target

Saxon:
Shirt - Wal-mart
Tie - Tie One On
Pants - H&M

Bridger:
Shirt and Sweater - Kohls
Pants - H&M

The weather is still holding out and we've had a beautiful spring!
It makes me excited for dresses, skirts, sandals, painted toes and bright colors!
What do you look forward to with warm weather?

What I Wore...

We have been having AMAZING weather!
It's been beautiful.
I've been leaving the windows open, and going to the park everyday with the kids.
All of the trees in our neighborhood are blossoming already.
It's been so perfect, that it's making me a little suspicious...
I hope it doesn't mean that we will get a cold and rainy summer because we had such an easy winter and early spring.
Well...regardless...we are enjoying all of this beautiful weather as long as it lasts!
My kids are wearing shorts today, and I'm wearing short sleeves:
Did you notice my new sign on the ground?
We just finished it last night and I can't wait to list it in my shop.
It's going to be part of the some new designs that I've been working on.

Have a great day!

As always...linking up to the Pleated Poppy :)

What I Wore...coral shoes

My mom flew into town from CA last week and we had a blast hanging out, and running errands, and seeing the Hunger Games, etc.

Back in January when I went to CA, I fell in love with these coral peep toe flats from Target, but they didn't have my size.  I checked our Target in Utah, but they didn't have their spring shoes in yet.  Last week when my mom was here, we stopped by Target and guess what...coral shoes!

My mom bought them for me and I've worn them every day since :)
Aren't they fun?
I am so excited that it's started to feel like spring lately!!!
And speaking of fun...has anyone else updated to the new Picasa 3.9?
I just did and I LOVE it!
So many new features.
I edited these pictures using the 1960 effect.

What we wore (in green)

What did we wear this week?
A LOT of GREEN!
Friday was Saxon's St. Patrick's Day Party at school so we wore green.
Saturday was St. Patrick's Day so we wore green.
Sunday we had a St. Patrick's Day dinner...so we wore green.

The boys got their new St. Patrick's Day socks:
(Target dollar spot)
Me and Baby Cakes matched in our green shirts and jeans.
-My green shirt: Shade Clearance $2
-Dalton's green shirt: Old Navy Clearance $2
It was a stretch to find enough green for 3 days...
This was our best day :)
My 3 little leprechauns:
Once, several years ago, I was talked into green eye shadow at the MAC counter.
I love MAC eye shadows and wanted something different.
So, the girl working did my makeup in green and gold.
I loved it when she did it!
I couldn't ever get it quite as good on my own though.
But...in honor of St. Patrick's Day...I thought I would give green another shot:
Did anyone else end up in a lot of green this week?

Bold

My Nordstrom magazine came in the mail yesterday and am in love with all of the bold colors!
I am getting so antsy for spring, and seeing the new spring collections has me even more excited.
Here's some of my favorites from this season:

 (all images via Nordstrom.com)
I had to include that cute vintage bathing suit and some sandals because I'm not just excited for spring...I'm so excited for summer!!!  I'm sick of my black winter coat and boots.  Summer is my favorite time of year, and spring means that summer is coming so I can't help but love spring too!
